Jake's first bite of solid food

Jacob turned 6 months old yesterday, and had his first meal of "solid" food (whole wheat cereal). He wasn't too certain of what was happening yesterday. However, today he is starting to catch on. He likes it so much, he will grab the spoon and guide it into his mouth if he thinks I'm not quick enough.

Another note: Caroline, before you were born, we were so excited about getting you an amazing highchair with cushioned pads and all kinds of gadgets. We quickly found it was a pain to clean. Jake, you will see we have grown wiser this time around. The $20 plastic highchair from Ikea works perfectly. Daddy even said yesterday, "I think we can just take this outside and hose it down when he's done."

Caroline's New Tractor

GiGi and PawPaw bought Caroline (and Jake, and any future Grandchildren)a toy tractor this month, and Caroline loves it. Apparently, she got the hang of "driving" fairly quickly.

Catch up post

Hi everyone! I'm so sorry I haven't done a good job updating the blog. Again, I blame working and juggling my adorable toddler and handsome baby boy. :-P Please consider this my catch up post for the past couple of months.

Here are a couple of pictures I took of the kids recently:

And here are two pictures from Easter. I apologize that there aren't more of Easter. I worked a wedding, and booked a wedding that was happening the following weekend, plus had additional client appointments. On top of that, GiGi, PawPaw, Aunt Roz, and Uncle Stu all came down with some horrible stomach bug/flu. However, you did have a good a time at your Abuelito Grande's house (Great Grandfather). (Well...Caroline, you did. Jake, you spent most of the evening crying.) We'll call this our low-key Easter.

And here are two pictures I took of the kids today:

Conversations with Caroline

While changing her poopy diaper just now...

Me: Are any of the kids at school going poo-poo and pee-pee in the potty?
Caroline: Just Francesca. (said "Fran - chess - sis - ca")
Me: Oh! Do you think you might want to go poo-poo and pee-pee in the potty like Francesca?
Caroline: Not yet Mommy.
Me: Okay. I'm sorry! (can't remember why I said I'm sorry.)
Caroline: Don't be sorry! Just be Mommy Zazueta, okay? (said "Sa-vweat-ta")

For the record: Caroline - you were actually potty training yourself for a while. I have not been pushing you because, quite frankly, Mommy is busy and I like that I don't have to remind you to go to the potty. But you had gotten to the point where you would come and tell me you had to go pee pee (you have never poop in the potty) at least 4 times / day, and then about 2 weeks ago you just stopped. My plan is to wait until all of your friends at school are potty-trained and then hopefully you will just want to and it will be a one or two day process. :-)

Conversations with Caroline

On the way to Jacob's 4 month check up (Friday morning - he is doing great, btw)...

Caroline: Mommy you buy Jacob at the hospital.
Me: I did?
Caroline: Yeah.
Me: He must have been very expensive.
Caroline: Yeah. He costs 'bout $50 dollars. Mommy, your car goes real fast (I guess we have switched conversations).
Me: Thank you.
Caroline: Where you buy your car Mommy?
Me: At the Chevy store.
Caroline: Oh. Where Aunt Roz buy her car?
Me: At the Honda store.
Caroline: Oh. Mommy, your car go bump! (I had just gone over a speed bump at this point.)
Me: It sure did.
Caroline: Lita car go bump too!
Me: Really?
Caroline: Yeah! She be driving real fast and it go bump and then she be sayin' 'oh no!' Yeah. Yeah.
