Just overheard this gem...

Caroline:  Is it ready NOW?
Jake:  Ten more minutes Caroline (pronounced "ten mo miiinutes Carowline")
Caroline:  Ugh
Jake:  Peace and quiet.  Peace and quiet.

Conversations with Jake

Jake had to go to "time out" for the first time at preschool on Tuesday.  His teacher said he wasn't sharing with the other kids in his class.  On Thursday morning, I had the following conversation with him...

Me:  Jake, are you going to share the toys with your friends today?
Jake:  No, it's MY firetruck, Mommy.
Me:  (thinking...okay, I guess it was a firetruck he didn't share.)  No, it's not your firetruck.  It's everyone's firetruck.
Jake:  No, it's MY firetruck, Mommy.
Me:  (thinking:  hum.  This isn't working.)  No, Jake.  It is everyone's firetruck.  If you don't share the firetruck with your friends, then your teachers will put you in "time out" again.
Jake:  (thinking on this a moment, clearly)  Okay, I go "time out" Mommy.

Guess he weighed the consequences and decided it was worth it.  :-P

Conversations with Caroline

I showed Caroline some pictures from the wedding I coordinated last night, and the following conversation began...

Caroline:  Wow, Mommy.  That's really pretty.  I wish I could have a birthday like that.
Me:  Well, maybe you can one day when you are older.
Caroline:  Like when I'm five?
Me:  No, you will have to be older than that.
Caroline:  Maybe when I'm one hundred. 
Me:  Sounds like a plan.

Conversations with Jake

It has been a LONG time since I've blogged. I blame a busy life. I'm going to try hard to bring it back though. At least the conversations portion. Here was today's conversation with Jake:

Jake (running over to me): "I know how fix Buzz, Mommy!" (He broke the arms off his Buzz Lightyear doll on accident a few weeks ago. Daddy hasn't been able to fix it.)

Me: "Ooohhh."

Jake (running out of the den): "I be right back!" He then runs back into the den with the tools from his toy work bench. Sits down, and tries to "work" on Buzz.

Caroline: Where are the other two Weeble Wobbles?
Gigi: Caroline, do you want to try a nut?
Caroline: No. No thank you.
Gigi: But they are really good. Just try one.
Caroline: No! I didn't say nut, I said Weeble Wobble.

Me: Come on Caroline, we need to go.
Caroline (grabbing her little pink toy laptop): Hold on Mommy I have to make a blog post.
